Google Nest Thermostat showing Wires not connected

Phoenixrising31
Community Member

Having issues setting my first thermostat up, and it is incredibly frustrating.

I have gone over the steps a few times and looked at many of these troubleshooting articles. Multiple wires are showing as not connected, especially the C wire. I unhooked everything and started over a few times.

Trying to get things to work without paying over $100 for an electrician to come out. Any help would be great!

Hi Phoenixrising31,

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you. I'd like to know more about it. A few questions: what type of Nest Thermostat do you have? In what country are you located? Do you see an indicator that your HVAC system is on? Please gather your thermostat's power readings and share it with us.

Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E:

  1. Go to your thermostat device.
  2. Look for Technical Info.
  3. Select Power.

Nest Thermostat 2020:

  1. Open the Google Home app and then tap the thermostat and then tap Settings .
  2. Select the Device Information.
  3. Choose Technical Information.

After you gather the power readout, try power cycling your system, and check your thermostat if the issue persists, or if there will be any changes with its readings.

Please keep me posted.

Best,

Jenelyn

Hey Jenelyn! Thank you for sending out that info. I actually had an electrician come out yesterday. It turns out that I turned off the wrong breaker and fried a fuse. Once we got that corrected, we are up and running!
