Two Google room stats one wired the other WiFi.
The one upstairs which is WiFi is the only one that turns the heating up and down.
The wired one downstairs did this until we added a second room stat so basically this one has become redundant.
contacted Google for advice nothing.
So reaching out for any ideas why this is.

I assume that what you’re saying, is you have two nest thermostats, correct? Since there are no HVAC equipment out there that can be controlled via Wi-Fi, your thermostats have to have copper wires between the thermostat and the HVAC equipment. And all nest thermostat since their inception, communicates with internet and the Nest or Google Home App over Wi-Fi.
So do you have two thermostats or do you have one thermostat and one remote temperature sensor?

I have two thermostats downstairs wired upstairs WiFi The Wifii one overides the wired one so basically the wired stat does nothing so pointless having the two unless I am missing something.
They simply control heating and water.

Go to each thermostat and take a picture of the baseplate and upload them here.
Nest thermostats do not talk to each other, each is an independent unit, each requires connection to a thermostat cable to receive power to operate and control the HVAC system. and, every Nest Thermostat made has WiFi capability built in.
Every HVAC system can be controlled by a single thermostat. Now then if your residential HVAC has a multiple Zones, then yes, you would have a separate thermostat for each unique zone. Under this condition, the Zone Controller is controlling the HVAC equipment. The thermostat in each zone is wired to the zone controller. Some Zone controller will treat Zone 1 thermostat as the primary controlling zone. Other zones can still activate the system, but the Zone 1 thermostat is the primary, and will override if needed.

I will guess you are in the UK/Europe area and have a Heat Link installed to control a boiler and hot water.
You can not use two thermostats with a single Heat Link.
When you linked the upstairs thermostat to the Heat Link, it disabled the downstairs thermostat.
It is not possible to have two thermostats.
