Hi @Agidd25,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand you're experiencing an issue with your Google Nest Thermostat where it intermittently blows warm air, even though it's typically set to cool. I appreciated you mentioning you have two thermostats controlling an AC system, one upstairs and one downstairs. I'd be happy to help you troubleshoot this!

To help me understand what's happening, could you please provide a few more details?

  • What specific model of Nest Thermostat do you have?
  • Are there any error messages displayed on your thermostat? If so, what do they say?
  • Is this a new installation of the Nest Thermostat?
  • When was the last maintenance check for your HVAC system?
  • Have there been any recent changes or upgrades to your HVAC system?
  • Does this issue occur when the system is set to cool only, or does it also happen when it's heating?
  • Have you checked the power readouts on your Nest Thermostat?
  • Do you have a common wire (C wire) connected to your Nest Thermostat?
  • What kind of HVAC system do you have? (Heat pump, conventional system, etc.)

Once you have this information, I'll be able to provide more specific assistance.

Best regards,

Debora

We have the Google nest 4th upstairs and downstairs. No error messages, yes this is new installation, the HVAC system is brand new. This is a newly built hoome,  no upgrades to our system,  when set to cool the problem occurs for like 5 minutes or so then goes back cold, not sure what power readouts on thermostat consist of, we have heat pump system, And yes we have the C wire.

Thank you

Hi @Agidd25,

Thanks for the information you provided. I really appreciate it! As you mentioned that this is a new installation, I need a little extra information:

  • Please provide a photo of the old installation.
  • Please provide a photo of the new installation.
  • Please provide a photo of your configuration within the Google Home app.
  • A screenshot of your energy history to check for power fluctuations. Refer to this link for instructions: Thermostat Energy History.

For the last request, your serial number might show up, so please try to remove that information. Once you have these, please let me know, and I'll be able to provide you with the best and most accurate steps!

Best regards,

Debora
