I put in a new Nest thermostat and it appears to be wired up correctly. But the heat and cool functions are reversed. I have to run the AC to get heat obviously something is not correct. I read that is has to do with the correct wire energizing the reversing valve.

Hi, @bclentz!
Thank you for reaching out to the community. I sincerely apologize that the heating and cooling functions are reversed. I understand the importance of reliable heating, especially during these colder months. I'm here to help!
To assist you effectively, please share the model of the thermostat you purchased. Since this is a first-time installation, let's review the configuration. Please provide the following:
A picture of your old wiring configuration.
A picture of the current wiring configuration on your Nest Thermostat.
A picture of the configuration settings within the Google Home or Nest app.
Additionally, please answer these questions:
What type of thermostat do you have?
Is the thermostat displaying any error codes?
Is there a connector labeled "C" on your thermostat?
When did you install the thermostat?
When did the inconvenience start?
Do you have a conventional or heat pump system?
Conventional System: Typically consists of two separate units (furnace and AC).
Heat Pump: Handles both heating and cooling with a single unit.
Thank you for your cooperation. I look forward to your response.
Best regards,
Ana
