Heat Link in North America

atburi

Hi all,

Does anyone know if Heat Link is available in North America and which thermostats, exactly, it comes with? I'm in Canada and this sounds exactly like the feature I would need for an in-floor hydronic radiant heat system. Ideally, this would come with the lower Nest Thermostat model (not the Learning version).

Thanks

As far as I'm aware Heat Link only comes with Nest Thermostat E and Nest Learning Thermostat 2nd and 3rd gen models sold in Europe, not in the United States.

Thanks, David. That's what I read, as well. Would be interested in having someone from Google confirm and explain the reasoning behind this. Heat Link is just what we need here, as well 🙂

I spoke with a Nest support specialist who said that the European Nest Learning Thermostat would work in North America so long as we have a high-voltage connection. Now it's a matter of how to order it.

Thanks for sharing that information @atburi . That is correct, the EU version comes with a Heat Link as it's designed for high voltage systems. The Heat Link is attached to the boiler part and the display connects wired or wireless to the Heat Link, so it's not connected to high voltage.

You can check out the EU compatibility page here as well for more information. It has a link to the EU checker and a lot of useful information on compatible systems.

Thanks, Alex. So just to confirm, the Heat Link needs to be wired (vs wireless) to the boiler?

Hi there! Yes, that is correct. The Heat Link must be wired to the boiler, only the display can be connected wirelessly and/or wired to the Heat Link.
