Hi, after 2 years of perfect use my 3rd gen Heat Link suddenly stopped working. I have power to the Heat Link but no light and no output power to the thermostat, resulting in error code H72. Please advise.

I too have a 3rd gen heat link that has suddenly given up.Mine is also 2 years old.I just wish I had done some research first as it seems it’s a common occurrence and very little if no help when it does go wrong. Now we are sitting here with no heating but luckily it’s still quite warm outside.I have contacted a heating engineer who is coming out this week but he said over the phone that he doesn’t install nest products because of all the problems they have.

Hi Mooro1967, I had an engineer round this morning who disconnected the heat link at the boiler and rewired the boiler so I can manually control the heating. I've sent my heat link to someone off ebay who does a repair for £30. Search '3rd gen Google Nest heat link, fixed price no fix no fee repair service' on ebay.

Hi @Mooro1967 , I would be happy to try and assist you.
If you have not already check all the breakers and switches at the location, to make sure nothing has tripped. Also check the boiler to see if it has any separate switch and confirm if it has power. It should have a display or status LED that comes on.
If it all looks good try and power cycle the Heat Link, if you are comfortable in doing so. Turn the power off to the Heat Link for a few minutes and after turn it back on. See if it has any reaction after when you press the button on it.
Hi @Malro , once you have the Heat Link back if you still need assistance make sure to let me know, I would be happy to try and assist if needed.
Best regards,
AlexD

As it happens,I too had to get a heating engineer out and he said the heat link was gone so I ended up having to pay £200 for a Hive system which he said that he had fitted loads of them and never had any bad reports. The Nest was great while it worked but it only lasted 2 years and the support is absolutely atrocious.Avoid at all costs!!!

Hey @cjdgeorge,
Thanks for reaching out. I'll do my best to get this sorted for you as soon as possible.
Here are some helpful troubleshooting steps:
Press the button on the Heat Link and check if you have any lights on it
Check if the circuit breakers and the switches are set to on
Turn them off and then back on
Press on the button again and check for LEDs
Could you also help me with some answers to these questions?
How long has your thermostat been installed for?
Did the issue happen during the installation?
Is there any error on the Nest thermostat display?
Have you had any power cuts recently?
Have you had any work done on your electrical or heating systems recently?
If yes, was the power properly restored at the fuse board after work was done?
How many zones ( thermostats ) are present in the setup?
Regards,
Cristian

Hello again. Just checking in. Do you still need my help?

Why are you continuously reading out script written questions? As I have already stated I had to pay for a gas engineer to come out and he tested everything. The heat link was broken so he replaced it with a hive unit.So basically I had the nest for nearly 2 years and had to pay a further £200 to get it replaced when it failed.I advise to avoid Nest at all costs!!!
