John the HeatLink and the Nest thermostat use a special variation of Bluetooth to communicate. Is the battery of the Nest thermostat low?
Some of the workarounds will try to re-sync the Heatlink and thermostat:

At this point I assume you have tried the Nest thermostat option to Reconnect. If that failed, you need to perform a hard reset of the Heatlink by holing the Heatlink button for 20-seconds. The LED will flash yellow and green a few times then will glow blue. Then attempt to reconnect from the thermostat. If step was unsuccessful then, again reset the Heatlink and in addition perform a soft reset or a hard reset of the thermostat. A soft reset on the thermostat is menu>reset>restart. A hard reset is pressing the face and holding it until it restarts. If that fails to reconnect, then try a repairing.
The thermostat and the Heatlink were paired at the factory. We can try to pair them again. Remove the thermostat from the wall or its stand and take to the Heatlink. Press the thermostat front and back and hold it until it shuts down. Then quickly hold the Heatlink button to reset it (blue led). When the thermostat restarts, then take it back to its normal location and see if the Heatlink is connected.

Thanks but there are no lights on the heat link - even pressing and holding the button there is nothing. - the socket
It’s connected to is fine with power as the boiler as it kicks in if we run hot water / shower but no heating control - and havnt worked out how to overide /bypass it to at least kick the heating on manually - so a cold night in store -
Have used the Boxt link via nest app to arrange engineer Callout as it said we could get one due to the fault “H71” a free
Replacement heatlink- so will need to get
Some electric heaters in the meantime as they are not coming until Friday .
( have also ordered and complete new thermostat and heat link from Amazon - as cannot sit in a Cold house - but will return it if engineer fixes it ) it seems this might be a common fault. - just dies with no way of restarting
