Heat link keeps disconnecting but no error message or blue light

Hi,

For the past couple of weeks, my heat link has been disconnecting from my thermostat after a few days. The strange thing is that I'm not getting an error message or a blue light on the heat link it self.

At a first glans everything looks normal, I don't get the H71 error message or any other for that matter. I can see that the Heat Link is not connected anymore because the Humidity in the Nest app shows 0%. I also find it curious that the LED on the Heat Link is green, showing no signs of any problems. However, it's not responding to the thermostat or Nest app, and it starts heating the house to above 22º.

When I check  'Equipment' from the menu on thermostat the Heat link is disappeared and under the 'Technical info/equipment' it shows W1-C-Rh-X as equipment sensed instead of the Heat Link.

My Heat Link is connected to a heat pump.

The only way to reconnect them is by following these steps:

  1. Reset the Heat Link by pressing the button for 10 seconds until the LED pulsates slowly in blue (sometimes it's blue or orange, and I have to reset it again).
  2. Reset the Heat Link by pressing the button for 30 seconds until the LED pulsates slowly in blue.
  3. Take the thermostat off the base and restart it by holding the display and the back of the thermostat for 10-12 seconds (Hamburger reset).
  4. While the thermostat is restarting, don't put it back on the base. Instead, reset the Heat Link as before.
  5. After resetting the Heat Link, put the thermostat back on the base when prompted on the screen.
  6. Restart the Heat Link twice (1 restart is a 10-second press until the LED goes off once).

Usually after a couple of tries, it finds the Heat Link. I then need to go to the Heat Link in the equipment menu and choose "reconnecting Heat Link" to connect it wirelessly again. Usually, this works, but sometimes I need to try a couple of times.

In some occasions I get an error message when I try to reconnect them. Like: "N9 - wiring report. No power to * wire detected. Learn more at nest.com/n9"

But when I follow that link I get a menu to choose the problem that I have before I can choose the letter of the error. When I then add the '9', I get the message that it's an invalid help code. Not very helpful of course

Apart from being very annoying that this keeps happening every couple of days, it's also frustrating that the thermostat forgets how long it will take to heat my house due to the reset, making it less efficient.

My thermostat is less than 10 meters away from the Heat Link and on the same floor. There's a wall with a door separating them, and there's a bookcase in front of it. There's a WiFi router 10 meters away from the thermostat, and there are Sonos speakers in the room. However, all of this has never been a problem in the first couple of months. The disconnecting issue has only started in the last few weeks.

Any idea what could be the problem and how to solve this? To be honest, I'm starting to regret buying it all together 😞

Thanks in advance
