Heat not working - Nest Learning Thermostat

AmPhysicist7

My Nest Learning thermostat is not communicating with my furnace. The display shows it's heating but the heating won't turn on. I've been freezing in my home for last two days.

I had a  HVAC professional inspect my furnace to confirm there's no issue with the furnace. Source of issue is at thermostat level. He mentioned "9/10 customer thermostat issues are with Nest products". This is highly disappointing and Google should address this issue.

Based on an earlier post, I'm currently trying the 'remove thermostat from plate and charge it for a few hours'. Please let me know if that's the latest solution.

Thank you,

A freezing community member

Is this a new install or one that has been working and now doesn't?

HVAC techs say that a lot so they can sell you a new thermostat that they support.

It was working and then suddenly stopped heating. The HVAC tech didn't attempt to sell me anything. The issue is with Nest thermostat.

Update: spent hours on phone with Google support to determine that the device base plate stopped communicating with the furnace. Product was beyond warranty so it's effectively trash. Was advised to buy a new one.

I was left without heat on a chilly night. I had to revert back to traditional style thermostat. This device is too expensive to break down within 3 years. Google needs to rectify this issue cus ppl's safety is at risk being without heat in freezing temperatures.

Hi AmPhysicist7,

Thanks for reaching out and we're sorry to hear about what happened.

I know that you've tried to troubleshoot and already contacted us for support, but I'd like to further check your issue. Could you take a photo of your current wire configuration and attach it to your reply? You could also include the case number from your previous interactions.

Thanks for the help, Patrick.

Also, we'll be more than glad to provide a replacement for your Google Nest thermostat that is within the warranty period.

Best regards,

Ryan
