Heat not working

Torontobird

Nest indicates heat is pumping yet no heat is actually coming out of the furnace. Everything on my nest app looks fine. Heat and fan were working fine earlier in the evening. Ive checked all my settings and nothing is set for it to stop heating.

I have the same issue....shows heat is 'on' and will be '1hour' to reach desired temp. I cannot hear anything nor feel any heat so I know it is NOT on. Every year at least one night (always the coldest) this crap happens and I am sick of it!! My kids are literally wearing blankets. How about an informative response Nest????? How can you heat my NOW, not in 1 hour!??!

Hi folks,

I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused — let's see what's going on.

To isolate:

  • What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
  • What type of heater do you have? (gas, electric, etc.)
  • When was the last time you changed the furnace's air filter?
    • Note: A clogged air filter can cause an HVAC system to not activate.
  • Check the power status for battery level, Voc, Vin, and Lin under technical info on settings.

@Wendy05, If you have a conventional type of system. Please try the troubleshooting steps here:

  1. At the breaker box, turn off the power to the HVAC system.
  2. Remove the Y1 wire, cover its metallic part with electrical tape or a wire cap, and tuck it into the wall.
  3. Turn the power back on at the breaker box.
  4. Call for heat (set the thermostat to heat mode) and check if the system activates. Some systems take time to start up, so wait up to 5 minutes for the heat to turn on.

@Torontobird, Can you try the steps in this guide:

  1. Do you have a dual-fuel system or alternate (alt) heat?
  2. Check if the orientation of the heat pump is set up correctly (O or B).
  3. Are there any set lockout or break point temperatures?
    1. If so, Is the outside temperature below the lockout or break point temperature?
  4. Confirm if the Aux or Alt heat of the customer works.
  5. Turn off the power of the HVAC system through the breakers.
  6. Remove the Y1 and OB wires, and treat the system as a conventional heating system.

Please let me know if that helps, or if the issue still persists.

Best regards,

Mark
