When I turn it on it shows it’s heating but everything comes out cold. I have a heat pump model UPRL-036JEC and followed the color guide from the app and transferred everything the way it told me to. No heat yet everything is running.

His control board has Y1 and Y2 counted together. To have a digitally communicating system there are two separate wires D+ and D- that are RS485 signaling. We need a picture of the outdoor unit to see how the wires are terminated. The old thermostat picture he posted was not an iComfort or Comfort Control thermostat

Do you have a pic of how you wired the Nest?
Did you put Black in OB
Red in RC
Brown in C
Yellow in Y1 Blue in Y2
White in W2 Aux heat
Green in G
Do not connect S1 S2 to the Nest
Set it up as Heat Pump forced air with Aux heat on W2
If that does not work go in to the settings and change the OB wire function to the opposite it has 2 choices of how OB works so try the other setting see if heat kicks on.

Hi brownsgirls37 are you and the original poster Austinpark1823 working together on the same system or are you posting about your own Nest problem?
If this is for your system you should start a new post topic so we can help you.

Looks correct is this a gas furnace or electric heat coils as the backup heat?
Is the outdoor unit kicking on in heat mode?
The OB setting controls if the outdoor unit is in heat or AC mode.
You can change the OB to the opposite output in the Nest settings if it is kicking on as AC when you want heat.
01-06-2023 07:29 PM
It is a gas furnace and I’m not sure if the whole
unit kicks on outside or just the heat pump. Will the heat pump make noise when on like an ac? If not it’s the ac on. I also tried stitching the o/b from o to b and it didn’t help.

Oh ok you should set it up as a "dual fuel" system in the Nest.
First move the White wire to W1 and do the setup again as dual fuel (instead of heat pump with Aux heat).
Then you have to choose a fixed outdoor temperature that it will no longer run the outside heat pump and switch over to the gas heat system.
01-06-2023 08:23 PM
I already did that last night. I switched it to w1 what should I set the temps to because I’m assuming the heat pump is what’s letting the cold in?
01-06-2023 08:25 PM
Here is how it is set currently. How do I change the settings and which ones do I change?
01-07-2023 03:51 PM
Did you start over and tell it you have a dual fuel system?
You have gas heat so it should not say Aux heat because Aux heat runs at same time as the heat pump and you dont want that to happen when you have gas heat you just want it to switch over at a lockout temp to just run gas heat.
Above the lockout temp you will run the heat pump.

Do you have the installation manual for the outdoor unit?
I think you need to go outside and check the wiring to the outdoor unit.
If it is wired up to the communication terminals for the old thermostat that was a communicating thermostat you need to change the wires to the standard terminals outside.
Look at page 29 of this online manual if you dont have your paper manual.

Houptee,
the control board in the furnace does not look to be Heat Pump smart. The heat pump reversing valve is a black wire and should be wirenut to a wire going inside the cable with the yellow and red wire going to the outdoor unit. The outdoor unit and the indoor Furnace are a standard unitary system. The S1 and S2 are the outdoor temperature sensor and you are correct in saying it will not be needed. Action needed:
1. verify the black wire and its cross connect at the furnace to cable going to outdoor unit.
2. At the outdoor unit control board, verify the arriving wire, how is it terminated? Wire nut or landing point on control board.
3. the Y2, blue wire, is not landed on the furnace control board, so, is it cross connected like the black wire? Looks like there is a 2-stage outdoor unit with an indoor unit that is not a 2-stage.

Thanks CoolingWizard!
He mentioned in his first post "I have a heat pump model UPRL-036JEC " and when I looked up the manual it shows 2 different wiring diagrams depending on if you have the proprietary Comfort Control2 Tstat or want to use a standard Tstat. It shows on pg 18 the wiring outside for Comfort Control and on pg 29 standard wiring. I am wondering if outside it is wired to the data lines and he needs to move the wires over to Y1 Y2 but it also shows a D wire is required to trigger defrost and inside it has to be tied to W1 and W2. I have never seen that before but we don't have a large heat pump footprint in NJ.
Here is the manual I am looking at it appears to be the model number he mentioned.
What are your thoughts on this? I assumed the S1 S2 on his old Tstat were going to the outdoor 1 and 2 connections.

LJones10,
if your thermostat is properly wired the way, the old thermostat was wired, and software is configured for heat pump, then the problem is you have a O mode versus a B mode heat pump. You need to go into the equipment settings on the thermostat, and go to your heating, and then you’re going to see an entry for the heat pump reversing valve. you’re going to see it’s gonna have an option of energize for heat or energize for cool, whatever it is, change it to the opposite. Then your heating will start to work.
