Heating turning on at random

LindsayM

I have recently moved house and taken over an existing heating system with Nest Learning Thermostat. I have scheduled my heating on the app to heat for an hour in the morning and a couple of hours in the evening with the setting to go to eco for the periods inbetween. I was dismayed to find this afternoon on arrival home that the heating was on when the internal temperature was already considerably above the eco setting (10 degrees).

An automatic system that cannot be relied on to follow the settings which are input is useless. I am out of the house/travel abroad frequently, and I certainly don't want to have to be remotely checking several times a day whether or not my heating/hot water is on to be sure that I am not wasting energy.

(I am a professional mechanical engineer who has in the past specialised in building energy saving)

Hi LindsayM,

Uh-oh! Let's get this sorted out.

Are you located in North America or Europe? And to fix this matter, please follow these:

  • On your Nest Learning Thermostat, go to Settings then look for Eco and select it.
  • Turn off both the Eco Temperature.
  • Click Done.
  • Look for Nest Sense and select it.
  • Select and tap Auto Schedule
  • Select "No" and "Off" then press the ring to select it.
  • Click Done.
  • Look for Reset and select it.
  • Select and tap Schedule.
  • Select Confirm Reset or Clear.
  • Turn the ring to reset schedule.
  • Click OK.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe
