Installed Nest Learning thermostat in December. Heat worked fine on heat mode. Everything worked fine till I tried to switch to ac. Only blows heat.

If your system starts to blow cool air when your Nest thermostat is in Heat mode (or if it blows warm air when its in Cool mode), change the settings for orientation of your heat pump.

  1.  On your thermostat, go to Settings.
  2. Select Equipment.
  3. Select Continue > Continue.
  4. Select Heat Pump.
  5. The Nest Thermostat defaults to an O setting for heat
    pumps.
    • If the O option is highlighted, select B.
    • If the B option is highlighted, select O.
  6. Test your heating and cooling again to make sure the issue is resolved.

I had tried that on the thermostat but no help. I took the nest off and reinstalled the original  thermostat. Everything works fine. Just put the nest back on and same problem.

It is a heat pump.

Do you have a picture of the original thermostat's wiring that you can post here?

Try doing a reset to factory default and set it up again. Like all electronics, sometimes they get a hickup.

Hey folks,

Thanks for helping, Patrick_Caezza.

Ken-2, checking back in. Have you had the chance to try resetting your thermostat to it's default settings as suggested? If yes but the issue persists, please provide the photo being requested above so we could take a look further.

Best,

Melba
