Help with schedule

Hi few questions about setting up a schedule if anyone out there has experience

1. When I select a temp for say 6.30am, is that when the nest will turn the heat on or will it be on earlier to get to that temp for 6.30am?

2. If I turn the heat on at 6 30am and want to knock it off again at 8am, I do a temp for both but i set the 2nd 1 pretty low to ensure that the heat knocks off. If I want to turn the heat on again as house is a bit cold and I turn it on manually, will it work as I have set on the schedule the required temp is pretty low?

3. Lastly and  this would be a fix to my previous questions but is there anyway  to just turn the heating on at 6.30am and off at 8am regardless of what the temp is? Read this isn't possible? Is this correct?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Conchur1,

Thanks for reaching out to us. First, the Nest Thermostat automatically starts heating at a specific time, such as 6:30 am, based on the temperature set by the user. It uses its knowledge of the home's heating system and performance characteristics to ensure the home is at the desired temperature by the scheduled time. Second, the Nest Thermostat will continue heating if you manually set a lower temperature for a later time, following your manual command. It will not override your manual setting based on the scheduled temperature, so it will continue heating until you manually adjust the temperature or the next scheduled change occurs. Lastly, Nest Thermostats are based on desired temperatures rather than specific times, aiming to reach the desired temperature at the scheduled time, regardless of the current home temperature. To set a specific schedule, you can set two separate temperature points for the desired temperature and a lower temperature for the off-set. However, a fixed schedule cannot be set that only considers time and temperature.

Keep in mind that the Nest Thermostat is designed to optimize energy efficiency and comfort by adjusting the heating or cooling based on your desired temperature and the current conditions in your home. If you have specific scheduling requirements that don't align with the temperature-based approach, you may need to manually adjust the thermostat accordingly.

Let us know if that helps.

Best,

Zoe
