Home App constantly loses connection with Nest Thermostat

Thermostat works ok and can be controlled manually. It is connected to WiFi.

My home app shows Error and cannot communicate with the thermostat after a few hours after I have reset the thermostat. This happens all the time and makes the thermostat useless when I am away.

I have tried factory reset which fixes the issue temporarily.

I have an AT&T router using WPA2-PSK encryption. I have tried both dynamic and fixed IP addresses for the Nest.

Please let me know what else I can try.
Thanks

Interestingly, I was not having this problem until recently.   My Nest thermostat (plain Google Nest version - not the Learning nor -E) was recently updated to 1.1-11.   I'm not sure if that has anything to do with this, but I am suspicious since this issue only started happening to me.   The Nest locally says it is connected to Wifi, but then gives error g.co/nest/m22 if I go to the "Check Nest Server" option (m22 is a very generic Nest is offline error code).   I can then use any other device that is connected to the same Wifi router to check that the router is working fine.   My suspicion is that the Nest is now getting stuck retrying to connect if there is any blip in connectivity, and it may be related to this most recent version update.  I had to restart my Nest 3 times in the last 2 days to reconnect it.

I have the same issue as this! Tried everything in the support to rectify but still nothing works.

Same issue here. I have a nest at each of two homes, and one continuously disconnects from the app. I have AT&t fiber internet with their modem/router. I have not been able to resolve the issue by following the steps in the app.

Anyone get this issue resolved?

I'm tired of restarting my thermostat. Doesn’t do any good if you can’t connect when your not home.

Mine does the same thing. Thought it was cause it didn't have a 24 v common wire. So I wired one in and it's still doing it all the time. Says it's connected on the thermostat but appears offline on app. Let me know if you guys find a fix.

Same issue. Using five Nest Learning Thermostats. All are on the network, good signal strength, but keep dropping connections to the Nest server.

Was having same problem, having to keep reconnecting one to have the other go off line in perpetual cycle of madness from restarting to factory resetting and reconnecting over and over!
*** I created a 2nd Home in my Google home app and then factory reset and moved one of my 2 Nest Thermostats to the second created home and installed it normal setup in that 2nd home.
So now I have 2 homes one labeled upstairs and the other downstairs and now both Nests seem to stay connected to the app now. Apparently the Google Home app doesn’t like more then 1 Nest to a Created Home.  IDK

Hope this helps some of y’all!

I have recently installed a second nest thermostat at another home and created a 2nd home/location for that thermostat on the app. I also have some Feit and a REVO cameras system at both houses that I can look at through their respective apps. Everything was working fine for the first day. Now every few hours all my wifi cameras and thermostats go down saying "not connected" at the same time. My other house is 200 miles away. If I power down my Iphone and turn it back on all devises are connected. Anyone else have this issue? It's driving me crazy.

Me too. AT&T Fibre. Using google home app on iPhone. Regular Nest thermostat—not E or learning. The Nest is connected to the WiFi, the app is connected to WiFi but won’t connect with the nest. This has been an issue since the beginning. Initially thought it might be caused by using geo-fence feature to turn it on/off when leaving the house. Well that wasn’t it. I really think the app it’s the app. But I’ve read the AT&T gateway doesn’t provide great WiFi. I have purchased another router but haven’t set it up yet. I will let you know what I find out. I do t really NEED to control my thermostat remotely. I got it primarily to customize the schedule and that works great. But now it’s just the principle of the thing. It should work. I will not be defeated!

Hey there everyone,

I apologize about the late response on this thread, thank you for being patient! Were you able to resolve this connection issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I can imagine this situation is pretty annoying. I would highly encourage you all to check out this article posted by AT&T regarding connecting to your Nest Thermostat. Go ahead and follow the troubleshooting steps they provided.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.

Best regards,
