Home/Away and Presence Sensing MISSING

I am trying to set up my home in a way on the Google home app. I have done all of the steps they describe online including the presence sensing function. Home and away is not in any type of household routine in the automations Tab and presents sensing is nowhere to be found in the settings tab. Please help

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re trying to set up your Home & Away Routines on the Google Home app but can’t find any type of household routine in the Automations Tab or the sensing settings tab. No worries, help is here.

Before I start further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few questions:

  • Could you please confirm if you are using an Android or iPhone device to set up your Home & Away Household Routine?
  • Are you using the latest version of the Google Home app?
  • Is your phone location enabled?
  • Could you please send me a screenshot of the automation tab of your Google Home app?
  • Could you please confirm if you’re trying to include only a Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) in your Home & Away Household Routine?

In the meantime, please try the following instructions:

1.  Make sure your Nest or Google device is online.

2.  Confirm in the app that the device is set to respond to Home & Away changes.

  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Go to Automations. 
  • Select “Home” or “Away” Routine under “Household Routines.”
  • Check if the Nest device is listed under “Actions.” If the device isn't listed under “Actions,” tap “Add action,” then tap the check box next to the device name.
  • Select the option “Next.”
  • Enable the toggle for the device to respond to Home & Away.
  • Select the option “Add Action.”
  • Tap on “Save the Routine.” 

3.  Toggle the Home/Away button from the Favorites tab, then check if the devices now work as intended.

4.  Check your location settings.

5.  Force close your app and then reopen it. Check if there are any changes to Home & Away.

6.  Restart your phone or clear your app cache as a last resort.

-using android phone, Samsung galaxy s22 ultra

-latest version of google home is what I'm using

-locations is on

-ill attach screenshot -only trying to set up

-only setting up nest gen 4 at this time

-tried the troubleshoot and didnt work, no home away option
