Hi Everyone
I hope someone can help with this. I've just installed a new nest 3rd gen heating and I am having problems with the hot water control. My problem is that it is not switching the hot water relay on and off, it is permanently sending power between terminal 5 and 6, regardless of whether I set schedule or boost to on or off. The app says it's off but it is calling for hot water. I can get it to turn it off if I reset the heatlink by holding the button for 10 sec, I can see with a meter that it then switches back to terminals 4 and 5. However once the thermostat reconnects it permanently switches the how water on again. The heating is working perfectly and I can hear the relay click when I ask for heat but not hot water. As a bit of background I am replacing a hive system which worked fine (but is now obsolete), I am also on my second nest as the first did exactly the same thing and I sent it back for a replacement thinking that the hot water relay was stuck. Now I wonder if either they have a system problem or it's something in the setup. Does anyone have any ideas before I give up on nest and go for a different manufacturer?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks for replying to me. That icon displayed on your thermostat meant that the Bacteria Prevention was turned on, that's why you had the hot water turned on all the time. It usually happens in fresh installation. If you want to know more about this future you can follow this link: https://goo.gle/3NcDYHR. I'm also glad to hear that everything is back on track at the moment. Is there anything else I can help you with?

Hello there! Thanks for posting and I'm sorry to hear that your facing issues with your thermostat. Can you please tell me if you see a black droplet in a yellow circle on your thermostat display?
Many thanks, Oana.

Hi Oana
Thanks for replying so quickly. The thermostat did display a yellow circle with a black droplet but today it has no icon showing. I just tested the hot water again and it appears to be working properly now. Hopefully this is normal behaviour for the system, I'll keep my eye on it in the future, if it ends up running my hot water 24 hours a day my gas bill will get out of hand. Normally I schedule it to come on for an hour in the morning and then just use the boost function if we need to take a shower.
Regards
