Hot Water Schedule not heating water

JTx6ox

I’ve had a 3rd generation Nest thermostat installed for a few years and never had any issues, it has recently stopped heating my water as per my heating schedule.

The boiler fires and heats the water if I use the boost function but does not appear to heat when the schedule calls for it.
e.g. this morning my schedule should have heated the hot water in the morning between 0500-0800, at 0600 when I woke up and checked I had no hot water and the boiler was cold and not firing, I hit boost for 30mins and the boiler fired up?

I originally thought I may have an issue with either my hot water tank thermostat or motorised valve but the fact boosting always works makes me think there is a problem with either the heat link or whatever or however the heat link is controlled by hot water schedule, is the schedule stored in the heat link or sent from something like a cloud based server??

any advice/ideas/solution gratefully received

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear about this situation. When you go to Settings and you get to the blue circle that says Hot water schedule, do you see that it says Enabled or Disabled?

Hi,

thanks for responding, it currently states enabled

Thank you for the information. Let us also go in the Nest app and select the hot water control. Tap in the upper right corner of the screen to go into the Settings and take a picture of all the settings you see there at that point.

The first toggle should say On/Off. If it is off, turn it on and if it is on, toggle it to off and back to on again.

Next go to your hot water schedule and remove it completely. Once done, set it back up and monitor it for a day to see how it behaves.

Ok,  thanks, I’ve taken the picture as requested but can’t see how to post this!

When I selected the hot water control it was ON and orange (my schedule turns it on in the evening between 1630-1900) but the boiler was not firing,

The on/off was selected on, I turned it off, when I did this I noticed a click come from the heat link, the screen then went black, I then re selected it (turned it on) the heat link clicked again and the screen went orange again and this time the boiler fired.

I haven’t made any adjustments to the schedule yet, I thought I’d give it a day to see if this has made any difference, I will then try deleting and rebuilding my schedule, if the problem persists, unless what I have encountered indicates an issue with the heat link itself?

thanks for the advice, I’ll keep you posted

Thanks for keeping me posted. More likely it's just the schedule needed to be refreshed with the server. That option enables and disables the hot water schedule, so turning it off and back on will do that. Just keep an eye on it for a day or two and let me know how things go.

Hi, just wanted to check in. How has it been going with the hot water schedule so far?
