Incorrect wiring configuration, compatibility issues, and power-related issues could be the possible reasons why your heating and cooling are activating at the same time. To isolate:
- What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
- When did the issue start?
- What other strange symptoms have you experienced since the problem started?
- Are there any reports or messages? If so, what are they exactly?
- Is this a new installation?
- If yes, have you checked your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system's compatibility with your Nest thermostat through the Compatibility Checker tool?
- What kind of HVAC system do you have? (Heat Pump, Convention System, etc.)
- Do you notice any intervals or specific patterns between these strange behaviors?
- When was the last maintenance check for your HVAC system?
- Have there been any recent changes or upgrades to your HVAC system?
- Does the issue happen with heating only, cooling only, or both?
- Share with us a photo of your old thermostat and Nest Thermostat's wiring setup and gather its power readouts in the Technical Info settings or in the Equipment settings, depending on your thermostat version.
