  • To remove the thermostat from the base plate on the original Nest thermostat, follow these steps:
  1. Turn off the power to the thermostat. You can do this by turning off the breaker or circuit that controls the thermostat.
  2. Remove the screws that hold the base plate to the wall.
  3. Carefully pull the base plate away from the wall.
  4. Disconnect the wires from the thermostat. Be careful not to damage the wires.
  5. Remove the thermostat from the base plate.

To reinstall the thermostat, follow these steps in reverse order:

  1. Connect the wires to the thermostat.
  2. Place the thermostat on the base plate.
  3. Secure the base plate to the wall with the screws.
  4. Turn on the power to the thermostat.

Here are some additional tips:

  • Take a picture of the wiring before you disconnect it. This will help you remember which wire goes where when you reinstall the thermostat.
  • If you are not comfortable working with electricity, you can call a qualified electrician to remove and reinstall the thermostat for you.
