How to unlock thermostat, no pin and no app?

As per my response in another thread: 

  • You will need to unfortunately contact Nest support here. The reason for this step is that they have to provide you with a special file that is downloaded from them and placed into a special directory on the Nest thermostat which resets the Nest back to factory defaults, and, eliminating the 4-digit pin code. When the Nest device is plugged into your computer, it should show up as a separate hard drive which is how it allows you to place this magic file onto it.

Ashepherdson is correct, the senior Nest support will help you with that.

I have the file, but don't want to pass on his forum I'm afraid.

Give them a call and all will be good.
