I want to run my fan when thermostat is OFF...STILL. Where are we on this resolution?

This question has been raised for a long time in a lot of forums.  I still see no resolution from Google.  I want to run my house fan 24/7 to constantly circulate air.  I do NOT want to have my A/C or heat turned on.  At the moment, we are in autumn, when the temperature is pleasantly warm in the day and pleasantly cool at night.  I want my windows open, not the A/C or heat turned on.  Virtually EVERY thermostat I have ever used, in any home I have ever lived, has had the ability to run the house fan WITHOUT having the unit set to A/C or heat mode.  I want to circulate the nice outdoor air that is blowing in through my open windows.  I don't want my A/C compressor kicking on, nor do I want my furnace to fire up.  I have a Nest Thermostat E with a dedicated fan wire.  Why can't you make this adjustment in the programming?  This may very well be the deal breaker that drives me back to ANY other thermostat manufacturer.  I was born in the 1970's and my 1900s Victorian home had a thermostat that would perform this function.  This is NOT a smart thermostat in the sense that it cannot run the house fan unless the A/C or heat is activated.

I understand that the Google Support thread says the fan can run with a dedicated green wire, but the thread also says that for the fan to run, the thermostat must be set to Heat, Cool, or Heat/Cool.  It needs to be able to run independently of these settings.

Keeping in mind I'm just a community member like yourself, so this isn't an official response, but a suggestion.  I run my fan on heat/cool mode with the temperature selections above and below where the furnace or A/C would kick in , and that seems to work fine.  I understand you want them to add a fan only mode, burning the meantime doing as I do would accomplish the same goal would it not ?

Set your thermostat to heat, cool or heat/cool mode, set the temperature outside of the ambient temperature range and run the fan only. The compressor will not kick on and the fan will just circulate the air. I have mine set that way during the day while no one is home and it keeps my house cool all day long.

I've contemplated getting a Google Nest Thermostat, but this is a deal-breaker for getting one for us. We run our fan all the time to circulate and filter air, especially with the pandemic.  And it's handy for moving air when temperatures are in-between, like right now.

Google Nest Help says you can't run the fan if heating and cooling are off, but our current manual thermostat does it just fine. This is very odd:

"However, you can only run the fan when your thermostat is set to a temperature mode (like Cool mode, for example). You cannot run the fan if your thermostat is set to Off."
