Incorrect indoor temperature

Davenr

Last night at 10pm i set my nest to 74° before going to bed, the indoor temperature was only 75degrees. I woke up this morning and the air conditioning was still running but the indoor temperature said it was “77°” which was definitely wrong, I could tell it was much colder than that in the house, probably in the 60s. How do I fix the the temperature or do I need a new thermostat?

So it turns out the Nest thermostat was, itself, overheating, and was claiming it was 87 degrees in the house. I felt the metal casing of the thermostat and it was extremely warm to the touch, not the wall or anything around it. After doing some research on-line it turns out that the Nest company has been aware of this issue as I am not the first one to encounter this problem. I immediately removed the thermostat to avoid any potential fire or electrical hazards. Ironically none of the wires connected to the nest were at all warm and there were no issues with wireless connection.
-it is a shame that it has taken Nest a week to get back to me about this potentially hazardous situation.

I did try restarting the nest. Hold for 10 sec then wait then turn back on. Did not change the reading for the internal temperature.

I’m having a similar issue I think, it’s 66 and I set the thermostat to 74 and it says 90 minutes until it reaches that temp, it’s been 2 hours and it still 66

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us.

Could you please take and share a photo of a thermometer next to your Nest thermostat? Both the thermometer and thermostat screens should be visible in the photo and show the difference in each other’s readout. Also, check your thermostat Signal strength value by going to Settings then look for Technical Info and select Network.

@Pmo8402, please do the steps as well.

Best,

Jenelyn
