If I’m not mistaken you got a 4 wire setup and one it’s bridged, to avoid any battery issues and interruption you might have to upgrade your wiring to 5 wires setup

Thanks for the reply. Is that easy to do? Or would I need a professional?

Another option With 4 wire setup, lose one of the functions like the fan, and make that as a C wire or common wire!

Depends how far is your furnace from your thermostat! Mine was straight down  from my thermostat  and I managed just to lower the cable,, try to yank on it and see if the other end moves, than you can tape the 5 wire cable on it and pull it trough! There is a chance you might lose the cable and you’ll be screwed’, or rip the walls

My thermostat is in a different room as my furnace, however, I found the wire that they ran through the wall to the furnace. This is sounding like something I would need a professional for though haha.

Jake,

Thanks for the follow-up. My brother helped me install the Nest Learning Thermostat. Although, the wiring looked tricky based on my old thermostats photo. It was extremely easy. My wiring was Y1, W1, G, and Rc. Based on Sebnestuser's reply I was worried I wouldn't be able to install it, but that red wire was just some kind of jumper or bridge. It was literally an inch long. I am fortunate my brother has experience with these types of things.

So far, I love the thermostat and I am glad I purchased it.

Thanks!

Hey geckoswan,

I am so glad to hear you were able to get the device installed, and everything is working properly. Jumper wires can be tricky, but you have to love siblings. With the issue being resolved, I am going to lock the thread at this time. If you run into any questions from here, please don't hesitate to create a new post. Have a good one.

Best regards,

Jake
