Issues linking to Google Home: Nest Thermostat Gen 2

Shar1024

I have a Nest Thermostat Gen 2 and would like to migrate it to the Google Home App. I logged in to Nest app and click on migrate to Google Account. After waiting I get the message. Error "An unexpected error has occurred."

Any suggestions as to how to link Nest Gen 2 Thermostat to Google Home?

I have same gmail login for both Nest and Google Home.

I'm not sure what you mean by Gen 2. There are three different models of the Nest Thermostat, and only the Learning Thermostat has a Gen 1, 2, or 3 version

The Nest Thermostat E is all white and only has one generation, and the Google Nest Thermostat, which has a mirrored face, has only one generation.

Thanks,

Once you have migrated your Nest account to a Google Account and logged into both the Google Home App and the Nest app, your thermostat should automatically show up in the Home app if installed in the Nest app.

Only the new Google Nest Thermostat is native to the Google Home app. All of the other Nest thermostats are still setup using the Nest app.

I am having trouble migrating from the Nest account. As I said in the first post, when I click migrate to google account I am getting an error  "An unexpected error has occurred."

Thank you for all those who replied and helped. I think the issue is now fixed. The migration this time went well and I can now see and control my Nest Learning Thermostat Gen 2 from the Google Home App.
