I want to make a recommendation for the next Gen of this product: ONE button to turn off ALL learning.
Issue: Right now I want my thermostat to stay at the temperature I set it and NOT change (this is because I have birds that will get sick and die if it is cold). I have already disabled some learning functions, THOUGHT I had it figured out, left for less than 24-hours, and the thermostat turned itself off AGAIN (my birds are alive and hopefully not sick, but it was 51 degrees, almost 20 degrees less than the recommended temperature).
I went through a bunch of settings (home-away, eco temperatures, deleted the schedule) on the Nest and on the App. Thought I finally had everything off. But I called Support anyway and, sure enough, there was yet ANOTHER learning thing I had to turn off so this thing doesn't kill my birds while I'm at work. Yeah, you have to turn off the automatic scheduling option, and this option is not available in the schedule itself, it's elsewhere in the settings. And then it's still not of, you have to reset the schedule in yet another place.
So why do I have to navigate the mind maze of this controlling nanny robot? Why is there not ONE easy button to turn off ALL learning?
This should absolutely be added for SAFETY, not to mention LIABILITY.
Disclaimer: I did not choose to have a learning thermostat. When I got a new furnace it couldn't use my old thermostat, and the learning Nest is what the HVAC company carries around and installs.
Also, when I accepted it I could never have dreamed how bad this thing is or how much I viscerally hate it right now. I thought I'd learn it and it would be fine, but it is NOT. I seriously live in fear of this thing dropping its Internet connection or losing power, and walking into a living room full of my son's pets all frozen to death.

Sorry for any typos. I have a space heater on now trying to get the temperature back into safe range. Birds are all silent right now.
