Lack of documentation for Nest thermostats

I have an early Nest thermostat - the one with the side controls - might even be generation 1 , cant tell.   I've lost connectivity temorarily due to wifi issues and need to program the thermostat manually to adjust the temperature schedule.

But there doesn't seem to be ANY online documentation how to operate / program this thermostat.  

I've search high and low and nothing more than basic installation instructions are available on the "Download documents for you thermostat" web site.   This documentation web site is VERY sad.   The features on these thermostats are not trival. 

Even youtube guidance is very superficial and only shows how to turn the temp up and down and go from heating to cooling etc.

 Not sure how Google expects normal humans to program these things without some sort of guidance.

I understand Google is not making any money on these old products they inherited from Nest when they bought them but the least they could do is make the old Nest documentation avalable.

But I guess in their zeal to eliminate the Nest branding, their concern for the customers who own these products went out the window.

I'm not sure what documents you've already seen but the Pro installer guide contains much more information.

I have the basic Nest.   Not Learning, not Pro.   The Nest-pro guide sodes not seem to apply.

I'm going to assume you're referring to Nest Thermostat (2020 model) setup with the Google Home app, not the Nest app, please correct me if that's not right.

"Pro" isn't a thermostat model, Nest Pros are independent companies or contractors that have registered with Google and are qualified to install Nest products. The document I linked is designed for use by Nest Pros, but you're right it's designed for Nest Learning Thermostat models.

I don't believe there's a pro install guide for the Nest Thermostat (2020 model), however there are some additional resources I'll link below. Again, bear in mind these are designed for Nest Pros not end users.
