@Johnlaurenson , this is an effort by Lennox to confuse you.  AC1 is Alternating Current 1 and Alternating Current 2. Think of them as Rh, Rc, and R.  Also, you have a 2-Stage Heat Pump.  This thermostat can multiple transformers to power additional system components like a humidifier or dehumidifier.

Thanks for the response.  I did some more checking and found a cut off drainage float switch activated from a build of bacteria sludge in the AC coil drain, which disconnected the thermostat as well as the unit. It would work for awhile and then turn off. When the thermostat went black my first thought was bad thermostat.  Cleaned the drain system of a big glob of goo, and added a little Clorox to kill those little bacteria bastards. I kill the line more often.  Thanks again for the response .

@Johnlaurenson , never put chlorine bleach in the evaporator drain pan.  The chlorine gas can permeate the interior of your home and that can be dangerous.  Basically use very hot water poured into the drain pan to break up slime/sludge. Also, go find where the pipe drains outside and attach a wet/dry vacuum and have it suck out the water and sludge while you pour in the hot water.
