Linking Nest Thermostats in 2 different homes to Alexa

I am trying to link my nest thermostats in 2 different homes to Alexa. When you enable the google nest skill it requires you to select a home so you only see the thermostat(s) from that home. It worked when the link was through the Nest app. Google says if you have nests in 2 different homes, you can use one google account but need to set them up in different homes due to wifi connections.
