Lock feature

The lock feature allows a range of temperatures so that a tenant cannot go above or beyond that range. However, to change from cooling mode to heating mode one must enter the passcode. That doesn’t make any sense. If one of my tenants wants to turn on the heater at night from cooling during the day, they have to enter the passcode, which then they can modify the cooling settings. Please correct this simple oversight!

Hi Thedude69,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I understand how inconvenient it can be to unlock your thermostat display to adjust the temperature. I'm happy to help!

The locking temperature feature is available on the Nest thermostat E and Nest Learning thermostat. It prevents unauthorized changes to the settings or temperature outside of a specified range. Currently, you need to enter a PIN to change the temperature.

As alternatives, you can create a schedule to maintain your desired temperature at specific times or share access with family members through the Google Home or Nest app if the account is already migrated. They can then adjust the temperature and settings or unlock the thermostat through their Nest or Google Home app.

I understand this is a helpful feature that allows temperature adjustments without a PIN code and hope to include it in future updates. We'd like to encourage you to send feedback.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
