Low Battery

Tonesavvy
Community Member

Learning Thermostat is 2.5 years old. Earlier this week, got a low battery, disconnected from Wi-Fi message. Tripped the breaker and did a reset. A few days later, same issue, low battery and disconnect from Wi-Fi.

Tripped the breaker and reset, but now it cannot find the Wi-Fi, searches, cannot connect, and appears to no longer be getting power from the wiring, as the battery has run down again. I don’t see any other error, other than low battery.

I am charging the unit manually now, but unclear if that’s really the issue, but nothing has changed on my end since initial install.

If you don't have a C wire installed, then you will need to install one.

If there is a spare wire you can use it or you can use the Nest Power Connector

Thanks! I think this is what is happening to my Nest. I will look into the Nest Power Connector

Thanks for reaching out here in the community.

I'd like to jump in here and check if you already tried to install a Nest Power Connector. Let us know how it goes by replying to this thread.

You could also try connecting a Nest Power Connector and let us know how it's going.

Thanks for your help, Patrick_Caezza.

Thanks all. I did a factory reset, now I’m getting a W5 error. Power is OK, the unit just can’t find the WiFi when searching for network or when I key in the SSID.

Hey Tonesavvy,

Appreciate the help, Ryan and Patrick_Caezza.

To confirm, have you tried restarting your thermostat to see if that helps? If so, fill out this form and let us know once you're done.

Thanks,

Archie

Hey there,

Checking back in should you still need our help here. Have you had the chance to try the suggestion or fill out the form above?

Best,

Melba

The problem was a malfunctioning unit. Google replaced it after contacting customer support. C-wire not necessary (didn’t have one originally).

Thanks Patrick. I wonder why it worked fine for 2.5 years without the C-wire, but will look into it or the Adapter. Thanks.
