Maddening Nest setup

I created an email address with gmail to have a joint account both my gf and I can use in our new home

 

The home came with a preinstalled Nest thermostat, from what i can understand it is a 3rd gen Nest (seriously, the only way to figure out which version I have is to measure the screen, can't put this in the hardware info on the thing??)

 

The **bleep** thing keeps disconnecting from wifi, but that isn't the main issue I have, I've connected it through the nest app on my android phone (which is totally useless, no functionality at all besides detecting if I am home or not.

 

Main issue is the **bleep** thing won't ever, ever connect with the google home app... It keeps telling the ''your password or email may be incorrect'''

I tried, changing my password, twice, the stupid thing still gives me the same error message. I can log in and out of the Nest app without any issue or in in my gmail account, o the issue is obviously

 

To think the previous home owner paid 400$ for this POS, I would be furious if I did, what a piece of crap. Side note, the home has other 'intelligent bulbs from Phillips and Globe and all these things have been a nightmare of error codes to set up, especially through the Google Home app. Google is indeed the new Microsoft, they do everything, but everything bad... Even Apple, which I used for a long time but totally despise, would probably not screw this up so badly.

 

Can't wait to have a UNPAID community member or minimum wage google subcontractor stuck to take the flack for another poorly designed product come and have to follow the script and tell me I, or my home, or my internet... is the problem or some other BS.... I guess the ''do no evil'' slogan was about as true as the ''think different'' BS from Apple...another terrible corporation
