Maintaining temperature

cdunlap007

This is kind of a stupid question, but I've noticed that when I turn my ac on before going to bed that it only cools my place to my set temperature once, and then shuts off while I'm sleeping for the rest of the night, so I wake up in a hot place (at which point it seems to sense me and wake up again only when I'm physically a few inches away to look at it in the am). My question is thus simply how do you get it to act like a regular thermostat to keep running/maintaining temp throughout the night? The app and menus are so confusing - I just keep finding complicated or indirect answers/functions to what should be a basic foundational function.

That does indeed seem to be the sneaky culprit - thanks a bunch for the tip!

Do you have Home/Away Assist turned on?  If so, it may be that the Nest is not accurately sensing that you're home during the night.  Lots of people report trouble using that feature.  If you turn Home/Away Assist off, the Nest does (or, at least, should) act like a regular programmable thermostat.

Hey all,

Thanks for being here in the Google Nest Community.

I'd like to jump in here and check on how your thermostat is doing, cdunlap007. Let's observe how it will behave for the next three days and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for your help, CBFox.

Best regards,

Ryan
