Moving a Nest Thermostat to a new location

I own a duplex and live in the downstairs unit, and manage a single Wi-Fi network for the building (It's a member of my family renting the upstairs unit, so I'm not worried about sharing the network.) I recently installed Nest Thermostats in both units, and they both show up in the same default home location in the Home app. I would like to separate them so the upstairs renter can manage their thermostat without seeing mine. I've created a new home location (Upstairs), but I don't see a way to move the device, and I don't really want to reset and then rebuild it there. Is there a way to move it cleanly?

Hello  SteveB23,

Thank you so much for posting in this community. I understand that you want to move a Nest Thermostat to a new location. Don't worry, it's a pleasure to help.

Regarding your question, to set up your Nest Thermostat in a different location, I recommend performing a factory reset. This step will help you pair the Nest Thermostat in a different home structure. For guided steps, please refer to this article: Restart or reset a Nest thermostat.

If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask through this forum.

Regards,

Daniel
