I just bought a new nest thermostat and I noticed that it doesn’t have a cooling setting on the app and on the device settings as well. Isn’t that the whole point to cool and heat up the house? Please advise

It's been a couple of years since I installed mine but I do believe that you need to have the wiring for AC installed correctly in order for the cooling mode to be enabled, so I would take a look at your installation first. If you don't actually have central air, there are several guides online showing how to trick your thermostat into thinking it's attached to a central air unit.
