My nest thermostat suddenly stopped talking to my App

My learning thermostat doesn’t talk to the app anymore. I tried Google home app. When I go into the app on my settings it says it’s connected to an account and doesn’t give me a code to set up the app. Is there a way to sort this out without completely re setti the whole thermostat

I am having a similar issue. I have a new iPad, but it would not "see" the two installed and working Nests in the app. It was simply add a device in the app. But you need the Nest codes for each unit. The Nests are connected to the wifi and working. I able to get the codes. The only way it works with the app is to have the Nests on only one device. I have it on the new iPad, but it is no longer on my iPhone. When I try to add another device like the iPhone it says the code is incorrect. I start over and get a new code, but only one device can use those codes. Using the codes on a second device results in te codes are incorrect. I have tried setting up from scratch but same thing - only one device works with the app. I did have Nest on all my devices before the new iPad. No more. I have tried the family setting  - no joy. Google Nest support is a total waste of time since they never respond with a call back even though I get a help desk ticket number and an expect less than a minute to respond. That was a couple of days ago. Nest support has really gone downhill . . . .as in non-existent!!!

Any advice???? Anyone???

Hello everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. Let's sort this out.

@Pam22, I'm sorry to hear about the connectivity issues with your Nest Learning Thermostat and the app. Before resorting to a full reset, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.

@waynek555, based on what you've described, it seems like there might be an issue with the way the Nest devices are registered or recognized within the app, particularly when trying to connect multiple devices. Since you've already tried setting up from scratch and exploring family settings with no success, it's clear that this problem runs deeper than a simple configuration issue.

Please give these steps a try:

  1. Ensure that both your thermostat and the app are updated to the latest versions. Sometimes compatibility issues arise due to outdated software.
  2. Try restarting both your thermostat and your smartphone. This simple step can often fix minor connectivity glitches.
  3. If the problem persists, you might also want to verify that the account you're using to log into the Google Home app is the same one linked to your thermostat and on the Nest app. Double-checking this detail can sometimes uncover discrepancies that prevent proper communication.
  4. If none of these steps work, you may need to consider resetting the thermostat's Account Connection. This will unlink it from the account and disconnect it from the W-Fi network.
  5. Once done, manually reconnect the thermostat and proceed with generating a new code in the Nest App settings to add it to the Nest app.
