For the longest time our Nest App controlling our thermostat and doorbell does not seem to want to adhere to our settings for the Thermostat... we do not use Nest Aware and do not have any "learning" features turned on with the app... We want it to adhere to the settings we choose but it continuously changes settings. For example, with the AC settings... we will turn it down a couple degrees to cool the house and expect it to stay there... but after a while, we notice it warm in the house and check only to find the Nest app has turned the thermostat up a couple degrees, like it is trying to control or be "energy efficient" on its own...
We also have elected not to use the Eco Temp settings for winter or summer whenever it asks us if we wish too... So really baffled as to why the thermostat (or app) has a mind of its own... What is the solution to having full control?

I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the Nest comes with a built-in default schedule that it runs until the user modifies it. Even if not, you might be happier if you set up a schedule that's about what you will want most days.
(It's hard to find help on this in the documentation, I guess because they don't expect people to pay extra for a Nest if they only want manual control with no programming. So it's hard to figure out whether your Nest is defective or is behaving "normally".)

Are you saying that the Nest will not follow the cooling schedule that you've set? Or are you saying that when you move the temperature down to (say) 74, on the fly rather than as part of a schedule, the Nest cools to 74 for a while but then changes and does a higher temperature?
When you lower the temperature to 74, that's only temporary. At the next set-point in the schedule, the Nest will revert to the schedule. (All programmable thermostats behave that way.) If you want the Nest to cool to 74 and keeping cooling to 74, you need to change the underlying schedule.
If your schedule is calling for 74 but the Nest is doing something else, then that is a problem.
(Sorry if I don't understand your question.)

We do not have our Nest thermostat on a schedule... we do everything manually...adjust as we decide to... No learning turned on... nothing... Problem is that the thermostat keeps changing things on its own...

After a little closer look at the Nest App, there was actually a default schedule that I was unaware of... killed that off so now we have total control... Thanks for mentioning that... tga

Hey folks,
Thanks for your answer, CBFox.
TGAThumper, glad to hear that you've managed to find that setting and now everything is working according to what you want.
