NEST Thermostat E - Your thermostat couldn't be added to your account

I am adding a 3rd NEST Thermostat E to my home.   I removed a Google NEST Thermostat from this same location and I am replacing it with the Thermostat E.  The entry key and the serial number are accepted fine.

I continue to get an error about "Your thermostat couldn't be added to your account".  I have reset the thermostat repeatedly.  I am attempting the install through the NEST app on my Android phone (Google Pixel 3A).  The NEST app is up to date.  It is displaying my other NEST Thermostat E devices fine.

The code TD018 means that the assisting device your Nest Thermostat E uses to communicate within a thread network is too far away. Take a look at this link for the troubleshooting guide: https://bit.ly/3k0Ypuc
