NEST wiring compatibility check

I thought I was following the diagramming instructions correctly but the Nest E keeps blowing hot air when the unit thinks it's cooling.  I was able to get it to churn out cool air by removing the White wire entirely, but it reverted to hot air again a few hours later in the middle of the night.  Help please!!

Quick question —  when you call for heat, do you get cold or hot air? Also, could you also provide a photo of how you wired it to your Nest Thermostat E?
