Need Help With my Thermostat Settings

villamari

Hello,

My nest thermostat refuses to go below 73-76 degrees. I always set the cooling temperature to 68 and it NEVER reaches that temperature. I don’t understand why because it is currently 57 degrees F outside, yet it does not go below 73 in the house. Can someone help me with this?

Hi villamari,

Yikes! I'm sorry to hear that your thermostat doesn't reach your desired temperature. Kindly follow the steps in this Troubleshoot strange heating or cooling behavior guide to troubleshoot.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe

Sorry but this article still does not   answer my question. I cleared my schedule and my room temperature still will not go below 72 degrees. It just says “66 in 2+ hour”

Hello villamari,

I see. Let me take a look at this more for you. A few questions:

  1. Are you located in North America or Europe?
  2. What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
  3. What type of system do you have? (Heat Pump or conventional type)
    • For Heat Pump:
      • Did you check O/B wire configuration and tried changing the O-wire to B-wire configuration or vice versa?
    • For conventional type:
      • Did you verify if Fan and Heating still work?
  4. Did you  turn off the power to your HVAC system?
    1. Are the breakers turned on?
    2. Did you recently experience a brownout or blackout?
    3. Did you have any construction or maintenance work done on your home?
  5. Do you have a photo of your old thermostat? Make sure your Nest Thermostat is wired correctly and verify that the display is receiving power.
  6. Did your utility company install a box on your HVAC system that turns the system off during high demand (peak) times to save energy?
    • Are you the homeowner or tenant?
  7. Have you experienced extremely hot weather lately?
    • Is this the first big temperature drop of the year in your location?
  8. Do you see a power error code on your thermostat?
  9. Have you set up a temperature schedule for your thermostat?

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Zoe
