My Nest thermostat has been up and running since late January. Yesterday, despite having a "C" wire connected, it repeatedly indicated insufficient power. After charging it via the USB port, it tried to start but failed shortly thereafter. This happened several times. Since our heat index is over 105 already, we called an A/C professional to come out. He checked the HVAC system, determined that it was fine and ended up replacing the Nest with a standard thermostat. Researching the issue on Google, it indicates that I need to go through the selling vendor (Amazon). When going to their site, it tells me I have to talk to Google/Nest... So, I've got a $200 paperweight. The good news is that the A/C is working great with the replaced thermostat... Suggestions?

Retailer is responsible for a least 12 months. Assuming Amazon are the actual seller and NOT anyone else although purchased from Amazon, TELL Amazon to repair/replace, they sold the thermostat to you!
Here in the UK we have consumer rights, and that covers up to about 5 years, so in the USA 12 months should be honoured by any company.
