Nest 3rd Gen Thermostat

Lesireland

Hope someone can help. I've just installed a Nest 3rd Gen Thermostat, heating is working great but I can't get my Google Home app to add it as a new device. I've read lots of forums and followed the process several times but I always end up at the same page, 'Nest Sign in'. I didn't have to create a Nest account, I assume it used my Google details because after installation the Nest front page shows my 'Google Home' name but in the Home app no sign of Nest Thermostat. This in turn means I can't use Google Assisstant with the heating.

I'm not sure what thermostat the "Nest 3rd Gen Thermostat" is. The "Nest Thermostat E" and "Nest Learning Thermostat" get installed in the Google Nest app and then should automatically appear in the Google Home app, as long as you're logging into both apps with the same Google account and accessing the same Google Nest "home/structure" in each app. The "Nest Thermostat" gets installed in the Google Home app and does NOT appear in the Google Nest app.

I've seen posts from some customers who had to add their thermostat to a "room" in the Google Nest app before it would appear in the Google Home app. Others have resorted to creating a temporary Google Nest "home/structure" in the Google Nest app, then going to that new and empty "home" in the Google Home app and deleting it, thereby causing their thermostat to appear in their original "home" in the Google Home app; apparently this action forced the 2 apps to sync.

Thanks for the help, and apologies for not making clear that I have a "Nest learning Thermostat".

Your second suggestion of creating a temporary home in the Nest app and then deleting it from the Google Home app worked perfectly. It does seem that deleting one home forced the two apps to sync and the Nest Thermostat now lives happily in my original home.

Many thanks.
