Hi there SE33,

Thanks for posting the photo of the wires connected to your thermostat for wiring configuration. It looks like you have a conventional system which is compatible with the Nest Thermostats. We suggest not using jumper wire connected to the R and RC, as the Nest Thermostats don't need that to function. 

Check out the wiring guide below:

For Nest Learning Thermostat:

• G - Green
• Y1 - Yellow
• W1 - White
• RC - Red

For Nest Thermostat E:

• G - Green
• Y1 - Yellow
• W1 - White
• R - Red

For  Nest Thermostat 2020

• G - Green
• Y - Yellow
• W - White 
• R - Red
