Hi, I want to buy a Nest Thermostat. My current system has three cables; blue connecting to ‘N’, red connecting to ‘L’ and yellow connecting to ‘3’.
Do I just connect the corresponding cables on the Nest?
I did read I might have to jump the number 2 connector with ‘L’ but not sure if that’s necessary?
thanks

Hi TomBurris,
Thanks for reaching out to our community.
I see that you want to install a Nest thermostat in your home; let’s dig in deeper to see if your system is compatible.
Taking a look at the photo you provided, it seems your system is using the correct wire gauge for the Nest thermostat; however, the way your wires are labeled indicates that you have a proprietary system.
Proprietary systems usually only work with thermostats made by the same manufacturer of your system. Nest thermostats use standard HVAC wire labels in order to determine how the system will work (such as using a wire labeled Y1 for cooling or a wire labeled G for a fan).
Some proprietary systems have the option to use standard heating system wires. If you’d like to check if your system can be rewired to be Nest Thermostat compatible, my recommendation would be to get in touch with one of our recommended technicians.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Regards,
Angel.
