I went from a gen 3 to a gen 4 to have home kit commands. I work as a firefighter and away from home 2-3 days a week. This new thermostat does NOT stay in auto eco or eco mode when I’m away. It runs the stupid program when I’m away like if I’m home. The gen 3 did NOT do that. If I was home it would run the schedule… if I was away for a week, it stayed in eco. Why would I want to heat or cool my house if I’m away and run a desired schedule? I’m sure this is a simple programming fix and it appears many others are having the same problem. Makes no sense to waste energy if I’m at work bringing the temp from 60 in eco or auto eco to 69 degrees. That’s a huge energy consumption for no reason. Also would have been better to stay with my gen 3 since it was doing what I needed it to do. Nest, you HAVE to fix this with an update. This is absolutely garbage. Thermostat is so advanced it sucks and sucks down power and fuel…. I want my money back or fix this trash

1 phone. My phone is only connected
everything is on for location and precise location with google home and Apple home app
I did have schedules but had to delete them so auto eco wouldn’t be overridden
the gen 3 didn’t do that, if no one was home it would go into auto eco and stay there with schedules
