Nest Gen4 Promotional Code

I received an email last week about the Gen1 and Gen2 Nests no longer being supported after the end of October. The offer was a $130 off promo code to purchase a new Gen4 Nest. I have 2 Nests in my house; a Gen1 and Gen2. The email I received just mentioned my Gen2 Nest so i ordered the Gen4 using the promo code. I thought I would receive another email for the Gen1 Nest. I received the Gen4 and replaced the Gen2 with the new Gen4. The Gen2 was recycled. I spoke to Google Store support to see when I should expect the other email with the promo code for the Gen1. Support said they needed the serial number from the Gen2 device to give me the promo code. I explained that I don't have the serial number since the Gen2 was recycled. Support said that they could not provide me with a promo code unless I have the serial number. This makes no sense to me. Any advice? If I don't have both Nests then I feel like I might as well return the Gen4 and just get different thermostats.

@thuemmler

It's a one-for-one deal, and the serial number is the only way for them to know. They can't just take someone's word, as there are too many cheaters out there.

I am going to escalate this to a higher-up person.

@Patrick_CaezzaI completely understand the reason for the serial numbers. But Google did not ask for the serial number when I clicked in the link in the email that was sent to me. The email listed the Gen2 Nest needed to be replaced with a Gen4 Nest and the email stated that the replacement was for the Gen2 Nest in the listed location. So now I am trying to get a promo code for the replacement of the Gen1. I have the serial number for the Gen1  but Support wanted both serial numbers for the Gen1 and the Gen2 . Why do you need the Gen2 number if that has already been replaced? So if I just said I have one Nest to replace I would not have been in this situation?

I reached out to support, the same link that you provided and they are the ones that want me to provide both serial numbers even though one Nest has already been replaced. I just need a promo code for the other Nest. The email with the promo info would not allow me to enter 2 Gen4 Nests so I figured I would get a separate email since the email just referenced the Gen2 Nest that I have on the 3rd Floor.

I submitted the form.

what an absolute eco disaster this decision is. it's just pure greed from google, disgraceful to punish us early adopters, they're made of money, we're not! leave the app as is, and let us choose when we replace a still working robust little unit. save the planet google, and our pockets! shame on you!
