Nest Indoor Temp Stuck .. Help

JohnWaylett

My Nest Thermostat shows 20.5 C as the indoor temperature and never changes. It's always 20.5 C. Night and day while the Co.fort setting is 19.5 C a d the Sleeping setting is 17.5 C. What is wrong with the I door temperature reading? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Have not experienced this, but can run some troubleshooting steps with you.  First confirm it's in the proper mode.  It sounds like you want the air conditioning to come on , so it should be on cool mode.  If it already is, a quick reboot is a good first step.  If it still won't work, try doing a factory reset to get rid of any ghost settings.

Thanks .. I will try your suggestion. I am not using cooling .. just heating. Maybe a reset will help me.

I'm still trying to understand why my house temperature does  not drop from the Comfort setting of 19.5 to the Sleep setting of 17.5 during the night. The house temperature ( Indoor temp as reported by my Nest Thermometer) is always either 20 or 20.5. At 11:00pm the Comfort level correctly switches to the Sleep level of 17.5 but my furnace seems to continue to maintain the 19.5 Co.fort temperature all night. It does not seem to be reacting to the Sleep temperature setting.

It's probably because it is on heat only, not cooling.  Change the mode to cool or heat/cool and it will work.

Ok I will try heat/cool setting. But I do  ot have an air conditioner so the only cooling possibility is to stop calling for heat from the furnace. If the furnace is heating properly at the  Comfort level of 19.5 then when the te.perature setting drops to 17.5 the call for heat signal from the Nest should stop until internal house temperature has dropped to 17.5. Is this  not correct?

That's correct , sorry I did not realize you only have heat, heat cool won't help then my apologies.   Did you try the factory reset procedure ?

I will take my nest and put it in the fridge for 20 minutes then take it out and see if the internal temperature changes. If not then I will conclude it is stuck and reset it. After resetting it if internal temp still does  ot change then I will have no other option s left.
