Nest Learing Thermostat (3rd gen) screen went dim/washed out

Hello Nest community,

I have a 3rd gen Nest learning thermostat, This unit was purchased/installed en of Jan 2023 so it is around 13 months old.

I went to adjust the temp on the thermostat today and the screen had a brief flash and then it became very dim. It looks like the screen lost contrast, and is not viewable unless looking at it straight on. looking from any other direction the screen looks washed out.  .... the orange BG color when thermostat is heating is not looking very orange at all. The Screen looks like a laptop screen from 1990.

I tried adjusting the brightness but it has no effect on the screen's washed out look.

it looks like the screen might be hooped .... what is the warranty on the units ? and who would I contact in case this needs replacing.

thank you in advance..

p.s. would have attached pics but I don't see an ATTACHMENT option when creating the post.

This is NOT the cooling BLUE  color. This is what the default BLACK background looks like when thermostat is just idle -- not cooling or heating.

definitely something up with the display

it's only visible when looking straight on  ..... viewing it from the side makes it unreadable

Have you by any chance cleaned the display with a cloth or similar?

Looks like static to me.

Reason for asking, the screen can go that way through static. Even touching the display can create static from your clothes and flooring.

Try removing the display, and squeeze front and back like a handburger, keep held, then release when you see the little house. See if that helps. You may have to do that a couple of times. May not work but worth a try. Try also gently wiping the display with a cloth, see if you can remove the static.

No I am not totally bonkers!!!!!
