Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd Gen Post Installation

Hi All.

I recently installed the Nest Learning thermostat and since I installed it I've been having a few issues. I've noticed that the "time to temperature" has been inaccurate and keeps changing. Along with that I hear my AC clicking on and distributing cold air but then then maybe two minutes later it stops cold air output. Also my AC/Heating unit has now started to occasionally make a clicking noise which I never heard when using my old thermostat  (Honeywell Home T1 Pro). Does anyone know the best fixes for both of these issues?

Thanks for the help

Hello DaveWap,

I'm sorry for any trouble this may have caused you after the installation. Let's see what's going on and why your system makes strange noises.

There may be a power issue or thermostat configuration settings that we need to check. To isolate:

  • Are there any report messages? If so, what are they exactly?
  • Have you checked your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system's compatibility with your Nest Thermostat through the Compatibility Checker tool?
  • What kind of HVAC system do you have? (heat pump, conventional system, etc.)
  • Do you notice any intervals or specific patterns between these strange behaviors?
  • When was the last maintenance check for your HVAC system?
  • Have there been any recent changes or upgrades to your HVAC system?
  • Does the issue happen with heating only, cooling only, or both?
  • Have you experienced any power outages within the last few days or weeks?
  • From what country are you posting?
  • Gather the power readings in your thermostat's Equipment settings or in the Technical Info settings.

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Mark
