Nest Learning Tstat.

Trying to get Nest App to see my learning Tstat.  I think it is a Gen 3. After seeing QR code it looks for "assisting product".  What is this?  I have nothing that I know of.  Then it fails saying it can't find it, or fails to connect.  Help please?

Hi hitone,

Thanks for posting in the Google Nest Community forum. I'd love to help.

Assisting product is the device used by your Nest Thermostat to communicate with. It's either the Nest Protect, other Nest Thermostats, Nest Camera or Nest products that are associated in the home structure you're trying to use for your thermostat.

You can try these troubleshooting steps:

  • Make sure it’s on the same Wi-Fi network as the selected network for the Nest device.
  • Bluetooth should be enabled, but it should not be connected to any Bluetooth devices.
  • Cellular data should be turned off.
  • Ensure that Local Network Access is enabled for the Nest or Google Home app.
  1. On the iOS device's home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Privacy then Local Network.
  3. On the list of apps, turn on Local Network Access for the Nest.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best,

Jenelyn
